Overview

The goal of the final project is for all of you to build a meaningful project that proves your AWS skill set to employers. It should also help you develop experience planning the architecture of a cloud system and interconnecting different AWS services to build a project in a scalable model.

Requirements

You are hired by FashionOnline, a Singapore company that manufactures clothes and sells them through their websites to a global market. Currently, they have an application that controls and monitors the manufacturing process of their clothes that is used in their manufacturing plant and it is installed in their servers in the plant. When the clothes are manufactured, they are checked and collated and an employee will key this order into a separate application and printed out to be sent to the respective storage facilities throughout the country. This information is then later uploaded to the ecommerce website by the respective storage facilities to be sold online. This is to allow each to manage their own stock. With recent popularity, the company feels it is too slow to do this manually and they were also hit by several power outages in the manufacturing plant due to machinery fault. This had caused the company several problems.

You have since convinced the management to make some changes to IT infrastructure and move it to the cloud, specifically the Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is to allow the applications to achieve high availability, scalability and security, and at the same time, reduce the amount of money spent on the infrastructure. But your management raised issues on PDPA on customers’ data.

You are to write a report to your management detailing how you can do so; moving the company’s infrastructure and applications on to AWS, while making sure you comply with Singapore’s PDPA law. In your report, please include the following requirements:

1. Use five [5] AWS services and justify the reasons why you would use them.
2. Research and understand how you can protect customers’ data.
3. Draw an architecture diagram with the AWS services you had chosen to use.

Evaluation Criteria

When you submit your assignment, your work will be evaluated using the competencies listed below. You can use the list to self-check your work before submission. The report needs information on the following:

1. Executive Summary & Introduction

• Where do you relocate the two applications (the internal application for control and monitoring, and the ecommerce website)?
• Why or how using AWS can ensure the IT infrastructure can run all the time?

2. Architecture Diagram for the 5 AWS services.

You should only use the following AWS services that are taught in this course for this report: e.g. VPC, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, EBS, ELB, CloudWatch, IAM etc.

3. For each AWS service chosen

• How it is able to achieve High Availability, Scalability, and Security.
• What do you use it for?
• How can you ensure it leads to a lower cost for the organisation?

4. PDPA requirements for Singapore

How AWS can help to secure and protect personal data of Customers?

5. Recommendations and Conclusion.

Deliverable

Write a report with a maximum of 5 pages (excluding cover page and diagram) with Times New Roman font size 12. Please use the cover page as found on the course website for the report.

To create an architecture diagram, I would recommend either Draw.io or Cloudcraft.com.
