Case Study
Write a report of a selected client. In working with your client, you will first perform an initial diet analysis with recommendations to help your client meet his/her nutritional goals.
Followed by, preparing a second diet analysis with recommendations to fine-tune your initial recommendations.
The report will be assessed based on the following:
Section I – Client’s profile and nutritional goals (5 marks)
1. Client’s details (e.g. age, gender, occupation, height, weight)
2. Medical condition(s) (e.g. chronic illness, medications)
3. Activity level (e.g. frequency, duration, intensity)
4. Lifestyle (e.g. working condition(s))
5. Dietary habits (e.g. food preferences)
6. Client’s goal(s) (e.g. weight management)
7. Any other information that will be pertinent in working with the client
Section II – Initial client report (20 marks)
1. Presentation and interpretation of data (e.g. comparison to guidelines)
2. Dietary recommendations are aligned with client’s goal(s)
3. Provide suggestions which consider the specific challenges of the client listed in the profile above (e.g. lifestyle constraints, eating habits)
4. Recommended calorie intake and apply principles of energy balance
5. Propose quantitative and qualitative macronutrients following recommended nutritional guidelines
Section III – Follow-up client report
1. Presentation and interpretation of data (e.g. energy balance, comparison to
guidelines)
2. Dietary recommendations are aligned with client’s goal(s)
3. Evaluation of any dietary changes following the recommendations given in the initial client report
4. Rational and personalised adjustments in your recommendations to further help your client meet his/her goal(s)
5. Conclusion – objectively summarises the progress of your client and assess the success of the interventions
Section IV – Reflection
1. State challenges you faced in this assignment (e.g., communications with client, data collection, etc.) and share how you resolved them.
2. Suggest steps you could take to improve for future client case-studies.
3. Conclude by evaluating your progress in this sports and exercise nutrition module.
