You are encouraged to discuss it with your tutor, who will support you on its planning. Ensure that you plan the Vlog or presentation properly, taking full consideration of the method by which scientific reporting is conducted. Guidance:

• Your Vlog or presentation should stand out by showcasing your creativity and
originality.

• Before diving into content creation, plan your presentation thoroughly. Use
the suggested structure, or modify it if it fits your approach better.

• Visuals like graphs, charts, statistics, and infographics can be powerful tools
to support your findings. Ensure these visuals are properly referenced.

• Ensure you reference all sources following Harvard style, whether you are
citing scientific papers, books, or industry reports. It is expected that you will
use sources from outside of the taught programme obtained from both the
primary literature and industry.

• Music and sound effects can improve your Vlog’s or presentation appeal, but
be sure to use them thoughtfully.

• For both Vlogs and presentations, it is important to engage with your
audience. Eye contact is important for engagement.

• Notes are allowed, but reading should be minimised. The goal is to sound
natural and maintain a flowing conversation with your audience.

• Use any software or tools for video and audio recording, editing, or media
enhancement (e.g., smartphone or camera, Canva, Microsoft Office,
Clipchamp, etc.).

Maritime Management Strategies and Leadership Practices

Using appropriate strategic models (e.g., Cultural web, McKinsey 7 Ss, Porter’s 5 Forces etc.), write a report evaluating the external and internal factors that have contributed to the success of the Port of Rotterdam as one of the leading ports in the maritime industry. Following your analysis, provide a brief discussion on the prospects and challenges that the Port of Rotterdam faces, along with potential strategic directions in the long term. You should start your report by justifying your choices of the analytical frameworks used in the report, in the wider context of strategic analyses.

In the report, it is expected that you will cite, reference and critically review an
appropriate range and number of relevant Journal articles and other academic texts. These should be topical and current. Complement your answer by making connections with other subject areas where appropriate. Reference your work correctly using the Harvard Referencing System. Figures, diagrams and tables (properly referenced or cited) may be used to illustrate the text to further support your answer.

Select a specific company or sector within the maritime industry and compose a reflective essay. In your essay, you will critically analyze and discuss the importance of Corporate Social responsibility (CSR), codes of conduct, and policies in the maritime context. Furthermore, you are required to evaluate the challenges that arise in implementing these principles and assess the extent to which they align with the values and ethical behavior of your chosen company/sector. It is important that you use relevant examples and relate your own experience to support the response.

Consider best practices in your sector as documented in contemporary literature. In connection with your reflective essay, include an “original” infographic or mind-map that visually represents the key findings and trends discussed. Be sure to explain how this visual directly supports your conclusions and enhances the overall understanding of your analysis.
