General Guidelines

• The project is 60% of the overall module.
• Trainees are required to apply their understanding of the key concepts in Cold Chain Logistics and demonstrate application in the logistics environment.
• Trainees are required to work on the project on an individual basis:
  • Research and recommend improvement on daily Cold Chain processes at your workplace OR
  • Research on one (1) of the following scenarios:
    • Pharmaceutical Cold Chain: Managing the logistics of vaccines, medical supplies, or temperature-sensitive drugs.
    • Food Cold Chain: Handling the storage and transportation of perishable food products such as seafood, dairy, or frozen foods.
    • Biological Specimen Cold Chain: Transporting biological specimens like blood samples, tissues, or other medical samples requiring strict temperature control.

Report Structure

Your report should follow this structure:

Introduction:

• Briefly introduce your chosen cold chain scenario.
• Outline the objectives of your report.

Risk Identification:

• Identify all major risks associated with the cold chain logistics handling process in your chosen scenario.
• Provide detailed explanations and real-life examples for each risk identified (e.g., temperature fluctuations, equipment malfunction, human error, or delays).

Technology for Quality Verification:

• Recommend specific technologies for verifying the quality of goods during transit in your scenario (e.g., temperature monitoring sensors, GPS tracking systems, RFID tags, or IoT solutions).
• Justify your recommendations based on the technology’s effectiveness, feasibility, and its role in maintaining the cold chain’s integrity.

Problem-Solving for Breach/Vulnerabilities:

• Identify potential breaches or failures and provide solutions.
• Provide practical solutions to mitigate these risks and propose alternatives, explaining their effectiveness and practicality.

Recommendations for Efficiency Improvement:

• Recommend effective solutions to improve the overall efficiency of cold chain logistics in your chosen scenario (e.g., optimising route planning, implementing automation, or improving packaging solutions).
• Justify your recommendations with detailed explanations, including how they enhance efficiency and maintain feasibility.

Conclusion:

• Summarize your findings and reiterate the importance of proper risk management, technology application, and problem-solving in cold chain logistics.

• Written report (MS Word):
  • One hardcopy ~ (print double-sided, stapled together with the presentation).
  • One softcopy.
